DIY Glowforge Laser Cut Wood Earrings – Materials List
- A laser cutter like a Glowforge. I accept the Glowforge Plus merely any laser cutter that accepts SVG files will do for this project.
- Light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation compatible wood. I used this Glowforge Proofgrade Medium Ruddy Plywood. For the other two versions, I used this frosted acrylic in Moss Green and this yellow gilt acrylic mirror.
- Paper Masking Tape like this one from Amazon, or blue painter's tape. Get the widest one you tin can observe, similar this one from Amazon.
- Gorilla Tape or a Safe Tipped Scraper. These are both used to remove masking from the material.
- Earring hooks – I used these aureate toned shepherd'due south earring hooks from Amazon.
- Small-scale jump rings – I used these 6mm size aureate toned jump rings from Amazon.
- 2 pairs of flat nose pliers – My favorites are Wubbers brand in the "Baby" size. My everyday apply pliers are the Infant Wubbers Chain Nose Pliers and the Infant Wubbers Flat Nose Pliers.

STEP 1 – Download the SVG File and Upload it to the Glowforge App
Download my Laser Cut Zebra Circumvolve Earrings SVG file (#179) from my freeResource Library. (If you don't accept a countersign to the library, fill out the form in a higher place and it volition be emailed to you instantly.)
Save the zipped folder that downloads to your computer. Then unzip the folder to access the binder'southward contents. You'll demand to unzip or extract the files First so yous tin upload the SVG file to to the Glowforge app.

Cutting Mirrored Acrylic

I first applied masking to the front and back of the acrylic mirror. This detail sheet already had a clear plastic masking applied, but the seller of this acrylic recommends removing the plastic masking and re-masking, or masking over the plastic. I opted for masking over the plastic.
I selected Medium Clear Acrylic as my textile. Proceed in heed for non-Proofgrade materials, you may have to do some experimentation with the settings to get the right cut.
Again I went with the default speed and power settings recommended for this fabric.
I pressed the blue button to begin the cut.
For this design and material, the cut took a fiddling over 6 minutes.
I used the same process and settings to cut another shape from my zebra print laser cut earrings bundle from green frosted acrylic. The zebra impress on the frosted acrylic is very subtle, but pretty in the light.
STEP 4 – Remove the Masking
Yous can remove the masking from the cutting earrings with your fingernails, but that's a little slow. I suggest two other methods.
The outset is y'all can use Gorilla Record to press firmly onto the masked earring and then pare it off. The masking bits should skin upward with the tape. Y'all may need to reapply the record a few times to get all the masking off.
The second (my preference) is using a rubber scraper. I utilise these from Amazon.
Pace 5 – Gather the Earrings
To attach the earring hooks, I used small jump rings, earring hooks, and two pairs of flat nose pliers.
I turned the lesser loops on the fishhook earring xc degrees so the earrings would hang correctly. To do this, I gripped the loop firmly with apartment nose pliers while holding the claw firmly betwixt my pollex and forefinger.

Open a 6mm size jump ring with two pair of pliers past gripping each size of the jump ring with the opening facing upwards at the 12:00 position. Twist i wrist forward or backward to open the spring ring.
Slide on the laser cut earring, then the earring hook. Make sure the earring hook is facing the correct fashion before closing the jump ring.
